CRASH OF A BRISTOL BEAUFORT
IN A SWAMP 3 MILES SE OF EAST SALE AIRFIELD, VIC
ON 13 SEPTEMBER 1943

Bristol Beaufort

28 year old F/Lt. Geoffrey Norman Reeve and 22 year old Sgt Leslie Lloyd Giles (417633) of 1 Operational Training Unit, were tragically killed on 13 September 1943 when Beaufort A9-303 crashed into a swamp 3 miles south east of the East Sale runway. 

A week earlier on 6 September 1943, F/Lt. G.N. Reeve and Sgt Leslie Lloyd Giles were involved in a ground loop accident at East Sale involving Beaufort, A9-45.
