CRASH OF A FAIREY BATTLE
AT NO. 2 AIR GUNNERY RANGE
NEAR WEST SALE, VIC
ON 27 FEBRUARY 1945

Fairey Battle L5600 of 3 B.A.G.S. at West Sale, crashed on 27 February 1945 while dropping a target sleeve at No.2 Air to Air Gunnery Range near West Sale in Victoria. The aircraft reduced speed to 100 mph and lowered its flaps. After dropping the target at 500ft, the flaps blew up and the aircraft dropped hitting trees with its starboard wing.
