CRASH OF A HAWKER DEMON
NEAR DUTSON BOMBING & GUNNERY RANGE, VIC
ON 8 SEPTEMBER 1942

On 8 September 1942, RAAF Hawker Demon A1-44 from No. 3 Bombing & Gunnery School, stalled during a steep turn near Dutson Bombing & Gunnery Range in Victoria which is located east of West Sale. This incident occurred during some unauthorised low flying activities. the Pilot Sgt. S.J. Smitheran was killed and LAC E. Thompson was slightly injured.
