CRASH OF A TIGER MOTH
AT ARCHERFIELD AIRFIELD,
BRISBANE, QLD
ON 3 DECEMBER 1940

Tiger Moth

 

Tiger Moth A17-4 of 2 Elementary Flying Training School 2 EFTS at Archerfield, crashed at Archerfield Airfield at 0932 hours on 3 December 1940. The pilot, LAC Hubert Winkworth Snartt (404552) was uninjured. He landed on the starboard wheel and wingtip. The aircraft bounced, turned and dived into the ground on the port wing and nose. The undercarriage, and port lower wing were badly damaged. The airscrew was also damaged.
