CRASH OF AN AVRO ANSON
ON HERON ISLAND, QLD
IN ABOUT MAY 1943

On 31 May 1943 the detachment of 11 Repair and Salvage Unit RAAF based at Goolman airfield departed to recover an Avro Anson that had crashed on Heron Island off the central Queensland coast.
NOTE:- Official records show that an Avro Anson crashed on Heron Island on 23 July 1943. Could these two crashes be one and the same crash? Or were there two separate Avro Anson crashes on Heron Island?
