COLLISION OF TWO WIRRAWAYS
OVER MAREEBA, QLD
ON 22 AUGUST 1943

visits since 24 February 2003

On 22 August 1943, two Wirraways of 5 Squadron RAAF collided at 8000ft overhead Mareeba.

P/O Archer was the pilot of A20-537 and P/O Paxton was the pilot of A20-549. Both occupants bailed out, with Archer suffering a broken ankle upon landing
