ON 19 JANUARY 1943
|visits since 4 March 2001|
On 19 January 1943 an aircraft (which type was it?) from No. 2 Operational Training Unit (2 OTU) based at Mildura, crashed into Lake Victoria in New South Wales while shadow shooting over the lake. The pilot, 22 year old Sergeant Herbert Thomas Tanser (411549) was killed in the crash.
I'd like to thank John Lever for his assistance with details of this crash. John Lever is the author of a number of books on RAAF Operational Training Units.
Can anyone help me with more information on this crash?
