CRASH OF A P-40N KITTYHAWK
AT NARELLAN, NSW
ON 30 SEPTEMBER 1943

Kittyhawk

P-40N Kittyhawk, A29-455 (#42-104737), of 78 Squadron RAAF, crashed at Narellan in New South Wales on 30 September 1943 during strafing practice.

20 year old F/Sgt Stanley William Smethurst (418014) was killed when his aircraft  failed to pull out of a dive during strafing practice. F/Sgt Smethurst had completed number 29 Course at 5 SFTS Uranquinty, NSW on 9 April 1943.
