Earlier Japanese Recce Raids over Townsville
and the rest of North Queensland

On 21 and 22 March 1942, unidentified aircraft were reported flying high over Townsville at about midday on each day.

On 31 March 1942 at 1215 hrs the 11th Infantry Brigade advised that a large contingent of enemy aircraft had been sighted heading south off Lucinda Point.  No further sightings of enemy aircraft were reported.
