MISHAP INVOLVING A USAAF B-24 LIBERATOR
AND TWO NEW ZEALAND C-47s
AT MOROTAI

New Zealand C-47 Dakota NZ3540 came off second best after it
was hit by the mainplane of a B-24 at Morotai on 9 September 1945

On 9 September 1945 a USAAF B-24 Liberator taxied into RNZAF Dakotas NZ3534 and NZ3540 of No. 41 Squadron RNZAF, badly damaging NZ3540.

I had previously found another reference book which incorrectly stated that this incident in the above photo happened in Townsville in late 1945.
