BOOMERANG CRASHED
DURING GUNNERY EXERCISE
ON 22 MAY 1944

Model CA-13 Boomerang, A46-173 (CAC Constructor's No. 996) of 83 Squadron RAAF, piloted by Mr. Ayre, crashed during a gunnery exercise at 13' - 12.5" by 136' - 25" (where is this? Somewhere in the Northern Territory?). The remains of this aircraft are now on display at the Gove Museum.

The aircraft had been delivered to the RAAF in January 1944.

NOTE:- The book "Wirraway, Boomerang & CA-15 - In Australian Service" shows A46-173 crashing near Whittlesea in Victoria in May 1944.
