CRASH OF A SPITFIRE
AT TRUSCOTT, WA
ON 20 MAY 1945

A Spitfire crash landed at Truscott in Western Australia on 20 May 1945. The pilot had been conducting local flying training from Truscott and made an inadvertant wheels-up landing. The pilot, Warrant Officer Vassie, suffered first degree burns when the aircraft burst into flames on the Marsden Matting installed at Truscott.
