RACEVIEW AVENUE CAMP (US)

DURING WW2

The US Army established a camp at Raceview Avenue, Hendra during WW2. It was known as Raceview Avenue Camp or Camp Raceview Avenue or Camp Raceview. It was immediately to the north of the eastern end of Camp Doomben and directly to the west of Eagle Farm airfield.

Raceview Avenue Camp can be seen to the left of Camp Doomben in 1943. The Gateway Motorway now
runs left to right between the top of Camp Doomben and the row of aircraft that can be seen.

Eagle Farm airfield in 1943. Camp Meeandah can just be seen at the top of the photograph.
Storage area near the Hedley Park storage area can be seen at the bottom left of the photo.
