Both of Dennis Johnstone's grandfathers worked at the Lithgow small arms factory during WW2. They were James Cantwell and James Johnstone.
In the mountains around Lithgow, there are a number of Anti-aircraft gun emplacements and bunkers that were used for the defence of the Lithgow small arms factory.
