GERMAN TMC TYPE MINES
USED DURING WW2

The TMC Type mine was originally a ground mine introduced in 1940 which had influence fusing.  It was a larger version of the TMB type mine.  After 1942 it could use either acoustic or acoustic/magnetic fuses. It had a charge of 1,896 - 2,050 lbs. (860-930 kg) and could be placed in waters up to 20 fathoms (37 m) deep.

Japanese Submarine I-6, laid 9 mines magnetic, including six German TMC type mines near the approaches to the Brisbane River in Brisbane, southern Queensland on 13 March 1942.
