FISHING BOAT DESTROYED BY A SEA MINE
AT RIB REEF, OFF TOWNSVILLE
ON 24 NOVEMBER 1946

 

Fishing boat "Topsy A" (Naval Auxiliary Patrol vessel), was destroyed by a sea mine at Rib Reef (18° 28.914'S, 146° 52.738'E) off Townsville on 24 November 1946.  Members of the crew were killed. A Police report on this incidents and details of the compensation to crew members' dependents is held in the Brisbane office of the National Archives.
