Dear Mr Dunn,

I am the Niece of Sgt Dennis Thomas (nick name Happy) who served in the 460 Squadron. His last mission was to Bochum on 12th June 1943. The Lancaster Mark 1, serial number W 4316 came down over Grafhorst, Holland. The other members of the crew who perished were R O Vaughan, C W R Young, D C P Lundie, Gordon & Day. The sole survivor was J C Cornish. Our family have already found minimal information and have visited the town of Grafhorst to witness the erection of a memorial in 1996. We are going to visit this coming May for the Dutch 'poppy day'. The purpose of my e mail to you is: I was wondering if anyone out there had any additional information on this event/photos etc on the squadron's time here. (Absolutely anything appreciated!) My mother was very young when her brother died, so dosn't remember much, and has very few photographs.

Many thanks,
Diana Burgess

Hi Peter!

Many thanks for your speedy reply. I have not got a copy of Strike and Return. Is it available to purchase here in England do you know? I'm also wondering (depending on cost of course) if it is actually worth me buying it just for two pages although it sounds like an interesting read!
