I visited your site with great interest. I have a number of publications from the US Dept. of the Army regarding New Guinea which give a fair amount of detail on the bases there, including those on Goodenough Island, etc.
I have been collecting information on this area for a planned visit next year, I hope. I have a fair amount of information on Goodenough but I am unable to get a clear picture of what the situation is around Vivigani Airfield. My impression is that there is a good deal of wrecked and abandoned war material lying about or buried. My father was there in WWII and buried some material himself. And what is the mission situation there? Wataluma plantation, etc. are shown on the maps but I have no real idea of what they may be.
I am happy to share what I have with you but I will have to glean details from the books I have gathered.
Regards,
F.R. McDermott
Can anyone help me with more information?
