THREE STORY WW2 UNDERGROUND BUNKER
MARIA STREET, KELSO
THURINGOWA, QLD

There was apparently a 3 level underground bunker in the area now occupied by Maria Street, at Kelso near Townsville during WW2. In the year 2002, there were about 13 bocks of land on Upper Ross River road which were subdivided into 5 acre lots and have very narrow frontages.

Its interesting that the Thuringowa City Council has an embargo upon any deep earth works on these lots (Drains etc.). These blocks of land are adjacent to Maria Street. There are also rumours of tunnels connecting to this underground structure.
