In September 1939, the 7th Military District of the Australian Army covered all of the Northern Territory. The headquarters for the 7th Military District was located in Darwin.

The Darwin Mobile Force, RAA (PF): Darwin (Infantry and Field Artillery components)

9th Heavy Battery, RAA (PF): East and Emery Points, Darwin

109th Heavy Battery, RAA (M): East and Emery Points, Darwin

2nd Anti-Aircraft Cadre: Elliott Point, Darwin

7th Fortress Company, RAE: Dudley Point
