RAAF Archerfield was the home for many units and Squadrons of the RAAF prior to, during and after World War II before returning to civilian ossupation and operations.

Many air and ground crew of the RAAF posted to a unit at Archerfield during these years had a relatively short stay for training or conversion before moving to other units to participate in the escalating air war in the north over sea and tropical jungle.
