CRASH OF A VULTEE VENGEANCE
AT HAMMOND ISLAND, QLD
Vultee Vengeance
On 4 May 1944, RAAF Vultee Vengeance A27-277 of 23 Squadron based at Higgins Field , crashed on Hammond Island, Queensland after apparently running out of fuel, killing Flying Officer Sydney Larner Porter (412681) and Warrant Officer Henry James Addison (413936). They were both buried at the Townsville War Cemetery.
