A Tribute to WAAF

The WAAF were part of every Command,
Everywhere they took a hand.
With gentle ways and smiling face,
The WAAFs were there in every place.
WAAF crew-bus drivers to get to your plane,
Who, after the op would collect you again.
WAAF nurses in sick-bay if wounded or ill,
WAAF staff at the mess hut your needs to fulfil.
Our chutes they would care for and fold and pack,
For us, care and concern they would never lack.
When, if flying, we needed some radio aid,
By a WAAF back at base the signal was made.
Always a WAAF was a part of our lives,
And for some lucky airmen, the WAAFs are now our wives.
