CRASH OF A BOOMERANG

Boomerang

RAAF Boomerang, A46-48, of 5 Squadron based at Mareeba, crash landed 12 miles north of Biboohra on 17 March 1944 when the engine cut out. The Boomerang was involved in an Army artillery direct shoot at the time of the incident. The pilot, Flying Officer William Kenneth Thompson (409351), died from his injuries four hours after the accident. He was subsequently buried at the Atherton War Cemetery.
